What is this?

Ancient Greek refers to the language and associated culture of the Greeks in the classical period, stretching from the 8th century BCE to the end of antiquity in the 6th century CE. This is distinct from the Mycenaean period (1450-1000 BCE) and the modern Greek language that emerged in the 19th century. Ancient Greek has left a huge influence on the modern world, leaving a deep cultural legacy with its magnificently developed literature, drama, architecture, science, mathematics and philosophy. Its literary corpus has been highly studied across the Western world and is still used by modern classicist philologists.
